Species diversity, primary productivity, and photosynthetic pathway in grasslands of eastern Pennsylvania

چکیده
We examined the relationship between primary productivity and diversity for grassland, meadow, savanna (GMS) vegetation in northeastern Pennsylvania, USA, where landscape is primarily forests, agriculture, urban or suburban development. surveyed productivity, plant species diversity, invertebrate order avian abundance 14 grasslands open areas that were actively managed three apparently occurred naturally. Four dominated by warm-season grasses with C4 photosynthetic pathway, nine C3 grasses, forbs, shrubs, four had a mixture of both types. found hump-shaped relationships richness bird as function but not richness. Richness invertebrates birds increased linearly number sampled at each site. The declined increasing proportion did orders collected sweep samples, abundance, Multiple regression showed vegetative characteristics influenced community. Bird area sites, ratio to edge, distance nearest area. There was no evidence influence relative native on GMS restoration farmlands mine lands plantings while possibly beneficial some forms wildlife, seems be less effective maintaining than cool-season shrubs.

Community maturity, species saturation and the variant diversity-productivity relationships in grasslands.
Detailed knowledge of the relationship between plant diversity and productivity is critical for advancing our understanding of ecosystem functioning and for achieving success in habitat restoration efforts. However, effects and interactions of diversity, succession and biotic invasions on productivity remain elusive. We studied newly established communities in relation to preexisting homogeneou...
متن کاملPlant diversity and productivity experiments in european grasslands
At eight European field sites, the impact of loss of plant diversity on primary productivity was simulated by synthesizing grassland communities with different numbers of plant species. Results differed in detail at each location, but there was an overall log-linear reduction of average aboveground biomass with loss of species. For a given number of species, communities with fewer functional gr...
متن کاملDiversity of Lactobacillus species in primary dental pulp and clinical signs and symptoms
Aims: bacteria are one of the main factors involved in the process of tooth decay. They play an important role in the onset and progression of tooth decay and are the main cause of pulp and periapical diseases. Their presence in the crown pulp and dental canal causes symptoms in the teeth; therefore, the aim of this study was to molecular study of anaerobic bacteria in primary and necrotic tee...

in current study, 63 samples of bat populations collected from differ regions were used for evaluating the geographic variations. twenty cranial and dental characters for traditional morphometric and landmarks method on the ventral, dorsal skull and mandible for geometry morphometric studies were used. statistical analyses of traditional morphometric and geometry morphometric data indicated low...
Grasslands of the World: Diversity, Management and Conservation
Features provide a comprehensive global overview of extent and diversity of grasslands. Analyzes how humans shaped grasslands through millennia of use and which role they play in present-day agriculture. Quantifies the role of grasslands as biodiversity hotspots as well as the drivers threatening these. Evaluates the ecosystem services grasslands provide e.g. in terms of soil protection and car...
